Job Summary

 

This is an exciting opportunity within our Commodity organization taking leadership of one of our key strategic commodities. You will be managing a spend of ca. 200mio USD globally. You are part of a diverse, global team and have a passion and track record in establishing long-term, strategic partnerships with our suppliers. Interaction with stakeholders in other functions like Engineering and Quality will be key. You provide leadership and development to your core team of Purchasing Managers across the globe and coordination of a larger extended team.
 

As the Commodity Manager you lead your assigned commodity on a global level within a cross-functional team setting. You are responsible for strategic and tactical processes within the commodity, while facilitating cost effective supply. In order to foster globally aligned and effective activities, you define a global commodity strategy (with support of regional commodity buyers) by taking the demand of owners and stakeholders into account.

Additionally, the Commodity Manager ensures the implementation of initiatives on a global level in order to drive cost optimizations by simultaneously ensuring consistent supply to AGCO operations.

 

Key Responsibilities 

 

  • Identify, implement & deliver value to AGCO that is more than what is normally achieved by simply adding up our regions mathematically.
  • Be the owner of the global supply base for the managed categories; lead the effort of further optimizing and developing a global supply base structure by fostering more global/shared suppliers where it makes sense. Drive complexity reduction and standardization.
  • Coach and lead the extended team members in accordance to global commodity planning to actively manage regional/local suppliers as not all suppliers within any category are global.
  • Be the internal champion for your respective commodity categories & suppliers including but not limited to process partners like engineering, quality, logistics, legal, marketing, product management, etc.
  • Understand and ensure AGCO benefits from latest market developments and innovation for managed commodity categories.
  • Ensure that reporting/feedback is viewed and reacted on, feedback loop, countermeasures where necessary, gap closure plans, etc.
  • An active but appropriate role in guiding New Product Introductions/new business awards for managed commodity categories. Ensuring maximum benefits, for current serial production, aftermarket parts & service needs as well as the new product prices and value structures.
  • Monitor supply risks associated to assigned commodity categories. Develop and deliver risk mitigation plans to minimize and eradicate supply disruptions.
  • Actively lead and coach extended team members and work conjunctively with them in developing their leadership, communication and commodity category management skills.
  • Be the overall owner of the Best Cost Country strategies for managed commodity categories.
  • Ensure alignment, develop & deliver most favorable commodity category strategies considering AGCO’s core competencies and manufacturing (make vs. buy) overall strategies

 

Experience and qualifications

 

  • Bachelor or Master degree
  • 8 years+ working directly in the Purchasing/Materials Area
  • Understanding of Global Purchasing Organization
  • Strong understanding of Purchasing Tools
  • Good technical knowledge
  • Experience in respective commodities Transmission, Brakes, Gearboxes and Hardware/Fasteners or similar (e.g. Axles, Drivetrain) is an advantage
  • Successful track record in supplier negotiation and establishing long-term strategic partnerships
  • Influencing skills with stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience working in a multinational matrix organization
  • Proven record in cross-functional and virtual leadership and team development
  • Passion to drive results and improvements
  • Proficient in Systems, Microsoft and SAP
