Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Manager – Shared Services is to assist the Executive Director – Accounting Shared Services in coordinating the project activities to ensure cost, schedule, document control and quality standards are met. 

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform various accounting functions including, analysis of balance sheet accounts and operating department income statements, preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Assist with Financial System administrative tasks.
  • Analyze the effects of transactions upon account relationships.
  • Prepare and review reports that summarize company business activities and financial positions in areas of income, expenses, and earnings, based on past, present, and expected operations
  • Interpret the meaning of accounting records, reports and accounting data to show the effects of proposed plans on Investments, income, cash position and overall financial condition.
  • Utilize company’s primary accounting systems (Infinium, Cognos and Blackline) to perform duties.
  • Draft memos to Shared Services management on accounting related issues.
  • Prepare and review general ledger journal entries to account for transactions posted to the general ledger.
  • Follow internal accounting policies and GAAP.
  • Reconcile and review balance sheet accounts.
  • Review profit and loss statements with assigned operating departments.
  • Perform and reviews account analysis.
  • Administer the company chart of accounts and financial reports.

  • Manage staff and organizes department functions in accordance with Company guidelines.
  • Delegate tasks and department assignments or projects, meeting deadlines related to those assignments.
  • Focus on achieving the goals or objectives of the department using available resources (staff and budgetary).
  • Evaluate the schedule or timelines related to the completion of assignments, while maintaining service and/or product quality.
  • Develop staff skills to enhance department effectiveness and manage resources to eliminate excess cost or unnecessary expenditures.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.
  • Certified public Accountant preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Nevada Gaming Control Board registration and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy. 
  • 5+ years of experience in the gaming and hospitality industry, or public accounting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to:

  • Lift or carry 20 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
