About the role

This role has accountability for overall product line strategy with direct responsibility for marketing execution.  The position is responsible for defining, developing and evolving the core product business through well planned, implemented and executed marketing disciplines and strategies.  This includes involvement in setting strategic direction for the business, meeting revenue & profitability targets, building a high performance marketing team and working internationally to integrate marketing strategies with Country Sales/Marketing and Global divisional Marketing.  The role will also be responsible for investigating new market/product opportunities within its relevant disease area.


The GMM is also the lead for the product manager team (currently 5 team members) and develop the team, ensure we follow marketing excellence in execution and making steps to continously improve, accelerate multi-channel tactics and set continued standards that are best in industry.

The New Cardio division is present in all major EMEA markets, mainly through direct sales organizations combined with some distributor networks in Italy and Eastern Cluster countries. The EMEA business is robust and growing. We are a team spread across Europe-Middle East-Africa, with a mixture of sales, marketing and commercial contracting specialist roles  as well as the support of key functions – Finance, HR, Health economics and Market access, Medical affairs and pricing. We have a strong connection to our global organization.


Our business is driven by three franchises: interventional cardiology, structural heart valves and left atrial appendage closure. These represent huge opportunity for us to differentiate within the market place. We continue to lead in Coronary Therapies and advance Complex PCi Therapies; expand our TAVI reach, and lead LAAC.


Main Responsibilities

The Coronary Therapies Franchise is largest Franchise in New Cardio in a competitive market environment and segments with fast growing therapies (e.g. Complex PCI) , and this role has a team of five people and reports into the Sales and Marketing Director for EMEA.


  • Set strategic direction for franchise responsibility and ensure alignment of tactical planning, execution and control through the help of direct report(s).
  • Develop annual and long-term objectives for direct report(s).  Measure performance of direct report(s) against success criteria and provides feedback.  Attract/hire and develop top marketing talent.
  • Lead the development of the CT marketing team and build-up of the digital marketing competencies in partnership with the Multichannel Marketing Director and the two New Cardio Marketing Teams.
  • Conduct quarterly plan and Strategic Map reviews with international Countries.
  • Define and manage International activities to assess new and core market opportunities.
  • Drive Marketing Excellence and Processes to achive best in industry.
  • Influence local Country management teams on growth and resource allocation.
  • Complete market assessments & manage market models.
  • Develop Multi-channel strategies and KPIs to measure successful conversion into sales and branding / positioning.
  • Drive the Coronary Therapies International Congress and Digital Events strategy in Collaboration with the Customer Program Manager.
  • Provide final recommendations to International and Global management regarding if and how International will participate in new market/new technology opportunities.
  • Conduct literature searches, physician interviews, focus groups and advisory boards as necessary to understand and define potential of new market opportunities.
  • Coordinate with Marketing Science resources as necessary to complete market research, analysis and decision making as required.
  • Coordinate and partner with all necessary internal functions to complete projects: sales, clinical, regulatory, legal, health economics, human resources, product marketing, education etc.
  • Identify and develop strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders in each key market opportunity.
  • Develop detailed market entry strategies for approved new market/technology projects.
  • Coordinate with Int’l Marketing and division to contribute to PDP/PIB process as required.
  • Manage allocated budgets.
  • Initiate and Manage incentive programs to drive growth
  • Initiate targeted Customer engagement programs, Adboards and influence for local adoption
  • Managing Franchise Strat Plan and AOP processes
  • Manage Portfolio Rationalization Business Cases
  • Ownership and visibility on Price approval and deals execution
  • Align and coordinate clinical initiatives
  • Liaise and collaborate with the Complex PCI and Cap Eq Business Development Managers
  • Managing Budgets and resources to drive Marketing Excellence
  • Drive Franchise QBRs & Reviews



Knowledge and Experience 

  • Extensive experience in medical device marketing (Downstream must / Upstream plus) with good understanding of the Coronary Therapies business and PCI Therapy.
  • Skills in Market development, financial modeling for marketing plans and budget management, driving elaboration and execution of strategic projects
  • Good communication / presentation skills
  • Strong People and Collaboration Leadership SkillsGood computer skills (Excel, database etc.)
  • Digital Marketing and Multichannel Understanding and Innovative Mind-set
  • Tracking and monitoring business and strategic matrix
  • Experience of international markets
  • Completed undergraduate degree; M.B.A. preferred but not required
  • Fluent in English. Other international languages skills are appreciated
  • Sales experience beneficial
