CommScope’s Powershift  line of products is rapidly growing, and we are adding a Senior Power Systems Engineer to join our growing team in Richardson, TX.


How You’ll help us connect the world

Provide power engineering and system power design skills to power engineering team.

Drive new custom power designs to meet goals established by product management. team. Meet design deliverables in a stage gate process.

Analyze Site Surveys and minor/major Power Plant evaluations.

Work with PLM and customers on new power system concept, designs, and development.

Work within collaborative team in definition, design, and validation of new power projects.


Required Qualifications:

B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or similar technical degree.

Minimum of 10+ years of work experience involving power electronics design.

Knowledge and experience of various telecom power systems.

A passion for hardware development, including working in a fast-paced environment and hands-on design and development.

Experience in designing, building, and testing analog and digital circuits in power applications.

Must possess good oral/written communication skills. Can clearly articulate reasons for decision making.

Requires the ability to regularly contact, influence and negotiate with both internal and external stakeholders on complex engineering issues. Also will include interaction with internal partners in various global facilities within the company.

Excellent problem-solving skills with experience in root cause analysis techniques.

Experience with kW level power electronics; DC-DC conversion/AC-DC conversion.

EMI/EMC experience.

Experience with battery technologies and associated chargers.

Design high efficiency, high frequency and high-power density SMPS DC/DC converters using various PWM & LLC topologies. Emphasis on Telecom DC/DC.

Use digital and analog control for various functions including loop response.

Design magnetics for the best efficiency and power density.

Collaborate with various customers to gauge customer needs and technology trends.

Familiar with PCB layout and circuit simulation software.

Experience in taking design projects from concept to production using a stage-gate PDP process.

Demonstrates skills of functional/executional excellence including planning, risk assessment/mitigation and project goal setting and driving for results.

Background knowledge in energy management and power systems controls is desired.
