Position Summary:

Responsible for properly staffing stores with high quality applicants while supporting the company’s commitment to a diverse workforce, and at the same time meeting the needs of the business. Conduct New Hire Orientation and communicate all pertinent information with store teams. Assist stores in maintaining associate records and training. Must be able to build collaborative relationships with store management teams, to assist in the on-boarding, training, and ultimately the long-term retention of our associates. Essential Job Functions:

  • Assess the staffing needs for all assigned stores through communication with the Store Manager, Co-Manager, Human Resources Coordinator, District Manager, Coordinators or Division Human Resources.
  • Communicate with store management on hiring needs, start dates, and on-boarding plan.
  • Recruit new hires by utilizing all available resources to recruit such as on-line applications, schools, colleges, job fairs, staffing agencies, refugee organizations, military programs, senior citizen organizations, special needs organizations, diversity groups, and charitable organizations.
  • Conduct interviews, perform drug screens, and complete call backs to applicants including those who were not selected.
  • Ultimately responsible for making hiring decisions for assigned stores.
  • Assess work experience credit eligibility and submit work experience credit requests.
  • Complete the new hire event in ExpressHR 2 and verify set up in Kronos and Enterprise User IDentification.
  • Conduct quality New Hire Orientations, paperwork sessions, and store tours.
  • Facilitate the completion of new hire Job Skills training and follow up on all new hire training.
  • Facilitate and monitor Associate Comprehensive Training for all Company-mandated training programs, including Web Based Learnings and Dillons Television programs.
  • Monitor and support the company’s diversity plan.
  • Knowledge of federal laws and Company standards regarding hiring practices.
  • Monitor and update in store legal postings. Complete minor compliance paperwork.
  • Collaborate with district team for new store staffing plans.
  • Maintain proper supply levels for uniforms and nametags.
  • Communicate issues regarding audit discrepancies of any associate’s records to the Store Manager for processing at store level.
  • Build collaborative relationships with store management to identify and eliminate issues that may lead to store turnover of associates, long-term planning for management development, support for DMD and advancement interviews, and seasonal changes in staffing needs.
  • Assist stores in meeting Kroger organizational goals and supporting key Human Resource objectives.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • One to four years’ experience as a Department Manager or comparable experience.
  • Proficient in the use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Proven interpersonal skills with ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse groups.
  • Strong verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to achieve objectives through others.
  • Excellent analytical and follow-up skills.
  • Able to travel independently.
