Position Summary
Create a friendly and caring associate experience through Our Purpose and Our Promise framework. Serve as a subject matter expert in HR and be aligned with Human Resources Leader to be a people champion. Support being an Employer of Choice by hiring quality candidates, providing a consistent onboarding experience and developing leaders at all levels. Serve as a liaison and be a first point of contact for associates, store leaders, district managers and division HR in administration and compliance of HR competencies. Lead and support communication efforts for associate engagement, associate/labor relations, training and development, recruitment, talent management, benefits and compensation administration. Demonstrate the companys core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
Essential Job Functions
Travel to various store locations to provide necessary support
Remain current on HR policies, practices, and workforce trends
Support and be an advocate for associate engagement/recognition initiatives
Provide support to management teams regarding Associate Insights data
Communicate and promote education, scholarship and tuition reimbursement programs
Provide information, educate and act as main resource to associates regarding applicable benefit plans
Ensure tools to support our Purpose & Promise framework are understood, modeled by leaders, and demonstrated everyday by associates (e.g. huddles, recognition programs, mystery shops, Our Promise Teams)
Assist and support initial investigation of harassment, discrimination and employment law issues
Implement and ensure compliance with state, federal and local laws, company policies, business processes, and contract administration
Build relationships with union agents and serve as a resource for labor questions/issues/grievances from stores
Consult with district manager on placement of associates in roles within the district
Conduct hiring and exit interviews and champion hiring, promotion, and retention of all associates
Develop and maintain relationships (community, university, high school, affiliations etc.) that drive candidate flow and assist in sourcing diverse candidates
Partner with store teams and provide guidance/direction on programs to staff hard to fill, remodel and new stores
Champion retention of associates as well as development of top and emerging talent at appropriate levels through career planning and development plans
Collaborate with other field specialists for the delivery of department training curriculum
Ensure ongoing development of new hires, department leaders, and store leadership teams throughout region
Coordinate quality and timeliness of continuous high-performance process, including setting objectives, ongoing discussions and year-end performance reviews
Minimum Position Qualifications
2+ years of management experience
Strong skills in leadership, interpersonal relationship building and the development of others
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with committees and peer groups
Strong analytical, conflict management and problem resolution skills
Experience successfully identifying, adopting and leading change initiatives
Proven success facilitating meetings varying in size and scope
Strong oral and written communication skills and effective listening skills
Ability to recognize and protect highly confidential information
Desired Previous Experience/Education
2+ years as assistant store leader
Any division associate labor relations specialist experience
Professional HR certification and/or local HR association membership
Bachelor’s Degree
