About the role: 
We have a unique and exciting opportunity for an Interventional Oncology Medical Director Works with business and scientific stakeholders (including Clinical, NBD, Marketing Strategy & Analysis, Divisional R&D, Regulatory, Legal, and other groups) to provide context on disease states, unmet clinical needs & to evaluate clinical and technical merit of new technologies under consideration or existing technologies for new indications.  This role will specifically be initially responsible for oncology start-up clinical trial design and charting the clinical strategic course.  

 

Your responsibilities include: 

  • Conducts clinical due diligence to assess technical performance of entity’s therapy versus competition & predicate devices, to determine expectations for clinical program to meet regulatory requirements & to identify red flags or issues from a clinical performance or clinical program design perspective which impact go/no go decisions.
  • Supports divisional clinical strategy planning in prioritizing cadence of trials & in designing trials to meet anticipated regulatory requirements & physician expectations for performance.
  • Develops & communicates clinical value proposition with succinct, data-driven messaging to support corporate decision making across functions & levels of organization.
  • Develops disease and therapy overview to facilitate understanding of therapeutic area & clinical unmet need & enable performance comparisons for new & emerging therapies.
  • Conducts primary research soliciting KOL input to support current physician view of disease, patient populations & opinion of new & emerging therapies.
  • Conducts clinical due diligence to assess technical performance of entity’s therapy versus competition & predicate devices, to determine expectations for clinical program to meet regulatory requirements & to identify red flags or issues from a clinical performance or clinical program design perspective which impact go/no go decisions.
  • Supports divisional clinical strategy planning in prioritizing cadence of trials & in designing trials to meet anticipated regulatory requirements & physician expectations for performance.
  • Develops & communicates clinical value proposition with succinct, data-driven messaging to support corporate decision making across functions & levels of organization.
  • Conducts ongoing monitoring of priority areas by proactively tracking priority therapeutic areas through literature & conference attendance & communicating updates to broad cross-functional team triggering a reassessment of strategy if gamechanger occurs.

Required Qualifications

  • MD Educated
  • Does not have to be an industry MD, can be from Hospital or academia
  • Experience designing oncology clinical trials
  • Gravitate towards medical oncologist, radiation oncologist, surgeons or other medical directors with an Oncology background

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Physician with experience using their products would be ideal, but not mandatory
  • Ability to provide technical leadership as it relates to product and process design.
  • Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on technical inputs from multiple and varied sources.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and collaboration skills.
