Job Description

The Design Selling Consultant will greet and engage customers, discover their needs, and help them create a warm and inviting home by helping the Client select furniture and accessories while providing design services. This position will visit the client’s home to create an interior design plan and assure proper furniture placement and color coordination and recommend additional furniture and accessories for the room design as needed. The Design Selling Consultant will maintain consistent level of sales and other key metrics as required.

 

Specific Duties:

 

  • Greet and gather Client’s information, including email addresses, phone number and merchandise interest, to enable prompt and professional follow up using Havertys customer database “My Sales Center”.
  • Schedule and attend home design visits convenient to the Customer’s schedule individually or accompanied by management as needed.
  • Will build a comprehensive presentation to include pictures of the customer’s space, 2-D and 3-D room plans, and product selection that includes furniture and accessories to complete the customer’s vision.
  • Coordinates with the decision-maker(s) during the home visit and the final presentation to review the items selected, pricing, and delivery schedules, if applicable.
  • Will provide recap to management throughout the process of completing in-home presentations.
  • Reinforce customer selections, explain special financing plans, delivery procedures, warranties, etc. and help bring sale to closure.
  • Complete paperwork appropriately for all sales.
  • Coordinate delivery between customer and distribution/delivery system.
  • Will use My Sales Center to access and follow-up with customers on a timely basis after delivery.
  • Maintain knowledge of broad range of furniture styles and products.
  • Maintain assigned areas and assist in keeping showroom attractive and neat.
  • Position requires working retail hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience– Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in interior design or related field; or 2 to 4 years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. ASID certification preferred.

 

Licenses– Must have a current valid driver license with a clean driving record and be able to drive and provide personal transportation to customers in-home appointments. Reliable transportation with verification of minimum state required car insurance is a requirement of position.

 

Computer Skills– To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of email and systems such as Room Planner software/Microsoft Office components/ Internet software/ Full-shot image ware and creating power point presentations. Must be comfortable using Microsoft-operated business messaging and collaboration platforms, such as Teams.

Other Qualifications:

  • Sales experience is preferred but not required.
  • Must be familiar, or capable to become familiar with a broad range of furniture styles and products.
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must be able to work independently and be a productive member of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and motivation is needed.
