Data Scientist, Proactive Customer Service


AGCO is a global leader in agricultural machinery and solutions. Our digital solutions empower farmers to make data-informed business decisions for their farms, leading to higher yields, improved farm sustainability and profitability. This position will support the Proactive Customer Services organization to develop and implement disruptive approaches to enhance AGCO’s ability support customers and grow the aftersales business.  The position will enhance development of data uses through AIML techniques, predictive and statistical analysis, data exploration and visualization.


The team is looking for a candidate with solid background and passion for executing advanced analytics along with optimizing new models and methods to drive actionable recommendations through machine, product, performance and customer data.


Job Responsibilities


  • Mines and analyzes big, complex, and messy data sets using appropriate analytics technique such as advanced statistical and machine learning methods to drive business and customer value.
  • Works in cross-functional teams on an on-going basis including external stakeholders to collect, analyze, design and prioritize insight deployment.
  • Define requirements for data engineering and steward to cleanse and enable data.
  • Leverage data to present compelling business cases to optimize decisions; communicate analysis and resulting recommendations to management using rich visualizations
  • Define requirements for data visualization and support Data Analysts’ colleague projects
  • Research, design, implement and validate cutting-edge algorithms to analyze diverse sources of data to achieve targeted outcomes
  • Provide technical project and program oversight to ensure appropriate technical rigor is applied to project work
  • Evaluate model accuracy and report on performance of insights. Participate in peer review of models and code.
  • Act as a change agent to drive data-driven decision making on projects


Minimum Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications Required

• Masters in statistics, applied mathematics, computer science, data science or a related field. (Master’s preferred)

• Proficiency in two or more languages/programs: Python and/or R, SQL

• Data visualization skills and tools such as Tableau, ggplot, Matplottlib

• Experience working with any of the predictive modeling libraries such as Scikit learn, Caret, MLLib etc.

• Deep understanding of predictive modeling concepts, machine-learning approaches, clustering and classification techniques, recommendation and optimization algorithms

• Experience using cloud computing platforms such as AWS S3, Spark, EC2, Athena, SageMaker, etc., for analysis of big data and model execution

• Working in highly interdisciplinary teams beyond the boundary of data analytics such as technical service, machinery engineering, master data, machine monitoring center, etc.

• Strong communication skills, ability to translate analytical findings clearly and fluently to a non-technical team.  This includes data visualization skills and experience using tools such as Tableau, as well as strong story telling with data.
