Project Overview

Sydney Metro West is a major driverless metro rail line connecting Greater Parramatta and the Sydney Central Business District. The new line will double the rail capacity between the two areas, reduce journey times and link more communities to rail services, supporting employment growth and housing supply. The project is expected to create around 10,000 direct and 70,000 indirect jobs during construction.

Sydney Metro West will include nine stations and deliver rail services for the first time to communities at Burwood North, Five Dock, The Bays and Pyrmont. It will also provide faster, more frequent access to; major employment at Parramatta and The Bays; sporting and entertainment at Sydney Olympic Park; and health and education at Westmead.

 

Position Overview

The Sydney Metro West Customer Systems Interface Manager will form an integral part of the Integrated Delivery Partner Team. The individual must be proactive, a self-starter and outcome focused as they will be seconded into the clients Operational, Customer and Placemaking department. Whilst the individual will report to a Bechtel employee for the purposes of time management and performance reviews, their day-to-day direction and priorities will be provided by a Sydney Metro employee.

 

The Customer Systems Interface Manager must have excellent communication skills as they will be required to coordinate with multiple stakeholders to ensure that a robust design, procurement and delivery plan is established for all customer systems (e.g. systems that support the customer during the operation phase of the railway e.g. CCTV, help points, lifts and escalators, internet, digital wayfinding, smartphone Apps etc.) on the Sydney Metro West project.

 

What you bring

  • Translating the Sydney Metro aspiration and strategy into a meaningful execution plan
  • Supporting the procurement function to ensure that all necessary requirements have been contained within the contract documents
  • Working with the engineering design services team to validate that requirements have been met and design work has been completed to support project delivery
  • Leading engagement with Delivery to deliver on the execution plan
  • Being the single point of contact with accountability for customer systems.
  • Enabling and promoting effective communication and collaboration between the respective team members

 

About you

  • Recognised degree in an engineering, scientific or other appropriate discipline; 
  • Current recognised chartership or professional licence; or working towards 
  • At least 8 years of experience in the construction industry, with at least 3 years’ experience in the rail industry
  • Knowledge and demonstrated application of Bechtel’s Zero Accident Safety Philosophy or an equivalent program; 
  • Knowledge of construction, engineering, procurement, subcontracts / contracts, planning, scheduling and cost, estimating and the interrelationships;
