Summary of role:

The Distressed Credit Team is a second line function responsible for the review and challenge of the Credit Risk proposals for customers in financial distress. You will work on a team that delivers a professional lending service to a number of Business teams across the Financial Services Group (FSG) and ultimately the Banks customers.


Working alongside teams within Credit Risk our aim is to deliver a professional lending service to our customers, providing robust review and challenge whilst embedding a strong Credit culture that is resilient through business cycles.

  • Analyses the Credit and Risk implications of Credit proposals and makes well-informed lending decisions;
  • Anticipates the reaction of others and adapts communication and influencing approaches accordingly;
  • Negotiates and facilitates eectively in a range of situations to achieve the optimum result;
  • Delivers performance through people – supporting performance and development; and,
  • Has an ability to make timely and quality decisions.

You will need to show us that you can/have:

  • Proven high level of Credit Skills with good commercial awareness, including an ability to interpret and challenge. Demonstrated ability to provide robust review and challenge & maintain resilience in a dynamic and fluid Credit environment
  • Evidence of high standards of professionalism in relation to Credit and compliance with all legislation, regulation, and policies and standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to change with commitment to streamlining current processes through use of technology.
  • Solution focused with strong interpersonal and negotiating skills and evidence of an ability to interact, engage and influence.
  • Ability to interpret and understand complex credit cases to be in a position to provide informed advice and/or approval in relation to credit decisions.
