Bechtel Energy has an opportunity for an experienced professional to come on board as Cost Engineer for our Pluto Train 2 project working FIFO in Karratha, WA.  This is a FIFO role working 3:1 roster.

About the Project:

Pluto Train 2 is the expansion of a second LNG train at the existing Pluto LNG onshore facility near Karratha in Western Australia run by Woodside Energy.  Woodside Energy is Australia’s leading natural gas producer, and Bechtel is excited to be working with this key customer to help meet the increasing global demand for LNG as a transitional energy source.

About the Role:

As the Cost Engineer you will provide comments and recommendations for cost engineering requirements relative to staffing and project control, preparing detailed staffing plans for jobsite activities and functions.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Perform productivity analysis of construction operations and verify results by staffing and crew analysis.
• Implement measurement systems for established processes, analyse performance metric results, and identify improvements.
• Assist in implementing specific project codes of accounts and recommend appropriate modifications and revisions.
• Create and implement measurement systems, tools, and reports for given processes, analyse performance metric results, and identify improvements.
• Prepare presentations, lead meetings and discussions with stakeholders, including senior management, to present information and recommendations based on thorough cost analysis.
• Other responsibilities as required.

What You Bring:

• Degree in an engineering or financial discipline, and at least 3 years of related experience on major lump sum projects with direct hire construction strategy.
• Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing cost engineering functions, including cost estimating, cost control, financial reporting systems, and cost analysis at a jobsite location.
• Proficiency in using PC operating systems, including several basic software applications, and using multiple discipline-specific software applications currently used by Bechtel (Ecosys, Hyperion, Digital Supply Chain).
• Knowledge of financial report systems and controller account codes, and understanding of Controller instructions, which impact Project Controls.
• Intermediate level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes, as performed by Bechtel.

Additional Information:

This position has responsibilities that include exposure to changing environmental, construction, and operational conditions, which may include: extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site, climbing ladders, working at heights from work platforms including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), use of personal fall arrest equipment, walking and working on uneven surfaces, working in constricted and/or confined spaces, variable work shifts (e.g., day, night, weekends, 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, etc.), and work in inclement weather. Some lifting may be required. Candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. respirator, harness, life vest, hearing protection, etc.).

The Pluto Train 2 Project is a Major Hazard Facility meaning this is a non-smoking site and no tobacco products – i.e. cigarettes, vapes, lighters, tobacco – are permitted to be brought to the site.

This position is available to both local and non-local personnel. For non-locals (FIFO/DIDO), the working roster is 3/1.
