Provides management and leadership to the health education team, including community health education and community health nursing staff. Attracts, selects, develops and retains qualified employees. Provides management oversight to the community health nursing supervisor. Works with supervisor to ensure clinical competencies for nursing flex staff. Is responsible for coordinating between health education and community health nursing teams. Oversees staffing, budgeting, workflow and assignments of the designated work team across the Carilion Clinic service area. In partnership with the Community Benefit team develops health education programming according to best practice considerations, including, but not limited to: addressing community-identified needs, providing equitable access, and tracking measurable outcomes. Coordinates community health improvement activities within Carilion Clinic and with community partners. Directs and participates in the preparation and dissemination of health education material and marketing strategy. Develops grant proposals and budgets; monitors grant expenditures and invoices; maintains related records and prepares administrative reports and correspondence with local and state agencies.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field required. Master’s degree in Public Health or Community Health Education preferred.
Experience: Minimum of five (5) years in progressive responsibilities within the community health field. Leadership experience preferred.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: CHES or MCHES certification strongly preferred.
