This position can be located at any of the following cities:  Dubuque, IA, Davenport, IA, Ottumwa, IA, Waterloo, IA, Des Moines, IL, Horicon, WI or Quad Cities locations per the hiring manager’s discretion. This may be dependent on the successful candidate’s background, experience, and proficiency.

Your Responsibilities

 

As a Category Lead, for John Deere World Headquarters, located in Moline, IL, you will be responsible for sourcing machining equipment, test cells, weld cells and assembly tools for the Fabrication, Assembly and Welding Council, within IM&S.  In addition, you will:

 

  • Work collaboratively with facility and manufacturing engineering and factory operations to develop the specification and scope of goods and services.
  • Work collaboratively with supply base managers to develop and implement sourcing strategies
  • Lead the RFQ process and negotiation of supply agreements
  • Monitor and lead efforts to improve supplier performance in delivery, quality, cost, invoicing, and contractual commitments
  • Drive cost reduction

What Skills You Need

 

  • Proficient at data analysis to solve problems or develop a business case
  • Ability to communicate effectively and influence multiple levels within the organization
  • Experience negotiating with suppliers, including cost, delivery, and performance expectations
  • Supply Management, Operations, Engineering, Manufacturing or Finance experience
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 50% (primarily day trips)

What Makes You Stand Out

 

  • Experience developing and managing contracts including related data analytics
  • Project management experience, with the ability to maintain timelines and keep projects on schedule

Education

 

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Management, Engineering/Technology, Business/Management, or similar discipline and/or equivalent work experience
