As a member of the JHBP Pricing team, the Builder Rebate Specialist supports the compliance arm of developing and enforcing the Company’s tactical pricing programs – specifically builder programs, with opportunity to extend the same system into channel-facing programs. You will have detailed knowledge of Company programs, competitive positioning, and will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of customer claims throughout the United States using a statistical approach to auditing. You will also have a defined focus on training and development in conjunction with the Sales/Install organization, making this role an ideal stepping stone into a technical field role within the organization.

Over the last twelve months, the Builder Audit program returned over $2M to the business. As rebate programs to indirect customers have consistently grown over the last 3 years, maintaining a high level of compliance is critical. The audit program must run consistently and with an increased emphasis on communication to ensure tighter control on indirect customer rebates. On top of verification of customer qualification for incentive payments, an increased Company focus on the overall customer experience presents a challenging gap that the Pricing Field Specialist will work to overcome. The incumbent is an influential contributor to the Pricing team and the organizational goal of creating more accurate and effective rebate processes that benefit the Company and our customers. The scope of this role reaches beyond the financial organization by providing the Sales and Install teams with critical information for managing their customer programs.

Position Responsibilities

Plans and completes builder verification audits by: (60%)

  • Completing field audits and providing accurate volume take-off information for JHBP products on each claim on target list: siding, trim, soffit, shingle; and identifying any competitive product
    • Quick and accurate recording of data
    • Classification of compliance vs program requirements
  • Pre-planning (most efficient travel/routing) and communicating with local Sales team to identify any additional market-specific objectives prior to each market visit
    • Arranging weekly travel to markets across the US
    • Organizing, filtering, geographically locating sites and routing them in most efficient order
  • Keeping detailed notes on any Install best practice misses/opportunities for improvement or better compliance
  • Maintaining efficiency metrics on travel arrangements, including mileage and miscellaneous expenses, and striving to improve on monitored productivity metrics

Provides detailed reporting on claim verification audits and recommending improvements by: (30%)

  • Organizing audit results by builder, including volume estimates, claim grade, any applicable photos, install best practice notes
  • Managing data while in market and creating management reports based on market discoveries to deliver savings and statistical findings on customer product usage
  • Communicating findings with Sales and Pricing Management via prepared written reports (Excel, PowerPoint, Dashboards etc.)
  • Recommending modifications to builder rebate contracts based on analytical critique of program structure and actual findings
  • Partnering with Sales team and Pricing management to ensure modifications are put in place and providing further detail if requested by customer or internal parties

Aids the Sales organization in creating more accurate builder rebate programs proactively by: (10%)

  • Conducting “pre-audits” of target builders’ current and future construction either in the field or via plans and creating accurate elevations on program proposals
  • Integrating reporting of target builder findings with Sales processes as to not delay or interfere with the typical Sales cycle/activities and helping sales to refine renewal programs
  • Providing insight and verifying volume in early stages of new program term, identifying potential claim issues and helping Sales organization to resolve them before becoming a financial liability
  • Understanding of “on the wall” cost analysis and ability to verify a like-for-like comparison between Company and competitive product

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (four year degree).
  • Microsoft Office knowledge required.
  • 2 or more years of experience in the residential construction or building materials industry (preferred)
  • 1 or more years of experience in construction estimating (preferred)
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
  • Results-oriented to ensure accurate and efficient completion of tasks and timely delivery of reports and recommendations
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments while meeting deadlines and demanding quality execution
  • Superior interpersonal and written/oral communication skills with the ability to relate well and cooperate with other to effectively coordinate activities and accomplish goals
  • Ability to work with cross functional teams
  • Demonstrated capability to keep abreast of new industry trends and how they would interact with Company product
  • Demonstrated intermediate skills with the standard features of various personal computer word processing and spreadsheet software (Microsoft Word and Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet and proprietary software)
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time
  • Valid driver’s license with proof of insurance and clean driving record
  • Demonstrated intermediate skills with the standard features of various personal electronic equipment
  • Basic map-reading and/or navigation skills
