The Associate Director of Business Development is responsible for executing on the strategic initiatives of Tradecraft with an emphasis on driving the growth of the company through the Compass Sales Organization, working with newly activated branches to support their needs, growing and fostering the relationships of Tradecraft’s strategic supplier partners, and ensuring high value clients and bids are supported and executed to Tradecraft standards. This role will execute on the top critical initiatives for the company to drive long-term growth and deliver on Tradecraft’s mission and vision. This role reports to the National Director of Business Development and also works closely with the Tradecraft leadership team, as well as executives throughout Compass and Canteen.

Job Summary

  • Works closely with Canteen, Compass and Tradecraft sellers to identify and support opportunities that will drive the growth of Tradecraft products and initiatives within all channels of business
  • Builds winning relationships and networks within Compass Sales Organization
  • Supports the sales organization in high value customer-facing sales scenarios; specific but not limited to: proposals, presentations, events and trade shows
  • Ensures that proper education and training support is being provided for the Compass and Canteen sales organization, in addition to organizational leaders, operators, and CSMs
  • Supports Canteen sellers in recommending the appropriate products and programming, building of proformas and negotiation of contracts
  • Works with FoodBuy sellers, account managers and FIM(s), along with Tradecraft Sellers and Operators to transition from non-compliant/direct sales of craft coffee, tea, and draft programs to Tradecraft
  • Builds winning relationships and works closely with Sector Operators to increase the growth of Tradecraft products and initiatives
  • Identifies prospects for growth opportunities for Tradecraft within all channels of business
  • Supports Compass Sector Sales efforts to introduce and win new business in the assigned region(s)/account(s)
  • Strategizes, plans, and prospects for sector sales growth
  • Understands and adapts to factors that influence business regionally and nationally
  • Stays current with industry trends and understands competitor strengths and weaknesses
  • Supports all efforts to grow new business, and the implementation process for transitioning to operations

Qualifications

  • Located in any of the following markets (Austin, Bay Area, Charlotte, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York) is preferred, with an ability to work remotely
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
  • The ideal candidate will have coffee and/or Food and Beverage industry experience
  •   or business development experience is preferred
  • A self-motivated and proactive candidate with relationship management skills, and an openness to feedback
  • Excellent prioritization and communication around responsibilities and primary organizational goals
  • A growth mindset and disruptive thinking, with a passion for reaching solutions within a complex and evolving market, and for helping clients to take their coffee and tea programs to the next level
  • Ability to pull and analyze sales reports
  • Ability to read financial statements and tie strategy/actions to financial performance
  • Experience forecasting short- and long-term sales
  • Experience and proven success working in an entrepreneurial environment, who is highly attentive and with proactive customer service abilities, and possesses the ability to work independently as well as within a team is desired
  • Ability to achieve subject matter expertise and strong desire for continuous learning
